Renewal proposal is funded

The National Science Foundation has approved our renewal proposal to continue and expand monitoring of carbon, water and energy fluxes at the established AON sites in Alaska and Russia. Understanding the role of these key processes in regulating basic ecosystem functions and their response to climate change remain the primary objectives of our research. Through continuing collaborations between UAF, U-M and MBL, we will also initiate studies of methane flux at the Fen station and water chemistry at Imnavait Cr. In 2012, the Tussock station will be upgraded to year-round data collection and the Fen station will begin continuous methane flux monitoring.
