At the end of August, 2008, a micrometeorological station was installed at Pleistocene Park near the North East Science Station. This systems includes:
- An open-path eddy covariance system to measure the flux of carbon dioxide
- A Los Gatos methane analyser. This will measure the concentration of methane at a height of 30m which will subsequently be used by NOAA in the development of a regional methane flux model
- A closed-path eddy-covariance system to be used in conjunction with the methane analyser to measure a local methane flux. Additionally, we will be using the closed-path system and a fine-wire thermocouple to monitor the performance of the open-path eddy covariance system and make appropriate adjustments to its flux measurements.
- A standard suite of meteorological and subsurface sensors.
Ultimately, this data will be integrated into the AON data management system and will be posted to this website on a daily basis through the use of an RF telemetry system and an internet connection at the station.
